Is there supposed to be a spring on the clutch pedal in an LT1 T56 car?
My buddy who's doing some work on my car for me is insisting there is, but on all 3 of the T56 cars that I own there isn't a spring. In my 94 the pedal assembly has no provisions for one, but oddly enough in my 97 there's provisions but no actual spring. Was this just in preparation for the LS1 cars the next year? Or do some of these LT1 cars actually come with a spring on the pedal?

Hmmm, this is got me thinking.
Sometimes when I go to start my car my pedal only goes part of the way down and gets stuck on something. I push it the rest of the way and it makes a "twang" noise almost like a spring binding. Itll also do it when I pull into my neighborhood and into my driveway because I use the clutch three times close together. It doesnt do it under normal driving or under hard driving. I bet its that spring binding, guess Ill check tomorrow and remove it.

Like I said it probably fell out or broke a long time ago.
The spring might be broken/binding.

Well, went to my local Chevy dealership and on a 97 Trans-Am, according to the diagrams on the parts guy's computer, there is no return spring on a 97 LT1/T56 pedal assembly. Odd because there are provisions for one on the car, yet on my 94 car there are no provisions yet it's the exact same engine/trans. Why do they do this to us? lol

my 02 Firehawk definitly has this spring. One of the arms is broken off (left arm in the above post pic by brdie) And is causing the pedal to squeek upon depression. I'm in the process now of trying to get it out. I was going to try lubing it but if the spring itself is broken I dont see how lube is going to help it much.
