LS1 alternator wiring
What is the simplest way to wire the LS1 factory alternator? It is in a 62 Nova with a carb so no PCM controls. We are using an American Auto Wire custom harness.A diagram would be nice.Is it as simple as 12v. to the S terminal?

I new you were going to answer
I do not know,I will have to check.I know the motor is a 97 but I do not know what year alternator he is using, since it did not come with one.Is there a year that is easier to adapt?I had read through some of this and left more confused than when I started, hence the questions.Looks like some us a resistor, some use a light bulb, and some run 12v to the Exiter terminal to make it a one wire.A one wire would be fina as we are running a volt meter and no warning lamp die to custom gauges.

This is an interesting piece of information that I have seen repeated many many times on this site. Reading through the Delco-Remy service manual for the CS130 series alternator (which includes the CS130D from the 98-02 Camaro) there is nothing that indicates that it needs a computer to activate or control it. All it needs to see is a fixed resistance. The bench testing procedure calls for a resistor of either 1) 35 ohms and 5 watts, or 2) 500 ohms at 1/2 watt.
Maybe the wire for the Camaro PCM provides the resistance to the Camaro alternator? I really don't know... but regardless, the alternator only needs to see is a fixed resistance as mentioned above.
For more information on how to wire the 98-02 Camaro alternator, see my post here:
