So how good are heads with 853 castings?

Search wouldve netted you your results already as this has been covered to death.

Basic run down fron what ive gathered:
853 are the least favorite of the stockers
241 comes next, then 243 tops out the list as one the preferred. You can also look at the sponsors for aftermarket heads.

Why are you asking? Looking for a set to p&p and upgrade, or something you can just drop in?

806s and 853s have just as much potential as the later 241s. In stock form, the 241s are marginally better (due to casting process), but it's nothing drastic, and that advantage goes away once all are ported.

All three stock LS1 castings (806 [perimeter bolt style], 853 and 241) have equal potential once worked.

243s are the stock LS6 castings. These will out perform all the others in stock form.

found a set for $125 and yes this will be just to have for the machine shop when time comes. I figured it would be worth it to have a set sittin. to get wrorked.

My car has the 241's on it.
