backfiring car is a 95 lt1 formula. started it today and the rpms dropped to 600ish and rose to 1,300 and kept dipping and rising, finally it started to idle like normal around 900 to 1,000. well i reved it later and at redline it seemed to pop from the motor, like a backfire, did it again and now it backfired out the exhaust sounded like a shotgun and sent black smoke everywhere for a second. could this be the optispark? it seems to drive fine other than this?
