Question What's an IAT sensor for?

I was looking at the LS1 Motorsports Air lid and for $19.97, you can get a IAT Sensor. What's the deal? What is it for and is it worth the extra $20?

The IAT sensor (intake air temperature) measures the temp of the incoming air. The lid comes with one because the stock one tends to be difficult to remove from the stock lid. Howeverm I found it really easy to remove it, no need to spend the extra $20

If you're easy with it removal shouldn't be a problem. To reinstall it in the new lid, just lightly coat the grommet with some hand soap.
