Default blew two fuses after amp/sub/headunit install

I was driving home tonight around 1030 from my girlfriends house which is way out in the middle of bum fuct northern va and i had teh subs bumping and POP two fuses blew. My dash lights went out and my tail lights went out. Luckily i had extra fuses on me so i could pull over and replace them. But i didnt notice a power surge or anythign what could have caused this. I checked all the wiring to the amp and it was sound as a pound. however considering i had the factory tape deck in (monsoon system) before i put the remote amp wire to the fuse box, could that have caused the blown fuses? i spent a good amount of time making sure all of the wiring to the head unit was done properly so i dontthink that could have caused it. cause i have a hard time believing this is anythign close to normal.

please if you hav eany info that i might benefit from please share with me
thanks T
