Default Dumb convertor question but here goes

Ok so I have a buddy with an 89 Iroc, he just got his car back on the road after a year of fighting with it and 2 weeks in it spit the convertor. His funds are a little limited so im trying to help him out with spare parts. I still have the convertor out of my 4L60e i just pulled. As far as i know its in decent shape. My question is will it work in his car? Im assuming an 89 had a 700r4 but i have no idea. Just trying to save him a few bucks. Thanks guys

Should work fine. You will have what I call the LT style 4L60 style converter. You have a newer style lock up clutch. But it will work fine in the on/off setup he has.

If LT and LS converters won't interchange, how is this possible?

OP has a converter out of an LT1 4L60E, not an LS1.

Ah I gotcha, didn't see he had an LT donor car.
