Just bought a 01 WS6 with 175k on the clock bone stock.

Drove it two hours home last night ran great.

There is a small tick..when you pop the hood its on the drivers side. You can hear it inside and also if you stand back behind the car.

Isn't that loud at idle or cruising just when you give it gas and it seems like the engine is under a load. I thought it maybe a vaulve tapping but it doesnt sound like it's coming from the head or anything.

Can exhaust leak ticks like that sounds like a little woodpecker or something.

Yes, an exhaust leak can sound like a ticking sound. Not to say that's what your issue is, but keep your fingers crossed.

I have a similar issue. You can see a small spot of soot next to the manifold where mine is leaking

Yep a bolt fell out of the stock manifold where it bolts to the rest of the exhaust.

Prolly just gonna deal with it until I order headers.
