Default is a custom 3" magnaflow exhaust system too big?

Ive now owned my 02 ws6 a4 for a little over a month and ive put some lca's, sfc's lid air filter lt headers, ory, and slp loudmouth catback(and i hate the exhaust sound). So my question is would i gain or loose ANY hp but installing a 3" custom magnaflow catback(full 3" piping all the way to the exhaust tips?

your slp cat-back should be the same size as a magnaflow cat-back. even if it was slightly bigger, your not going to be anywhere near too big with a y-pipe of any brand. plenty of people run 3'' pipe on true duals, i used to.

nope. just to be clear, your just swapping your SLP cat-back for a magnaflow cat-back, right? so you'll still be running a y-pipe just like a stock set-up? just making sure since you said "custom"

Most (if not all) aftermarket cat-backs are 3". Also the magnaflow muffler is a straight through design so it wont rob any HP. Great choice on going to magnaflow... my buddy just did the same change that you are doing and he couldnt be happier.

Ok cool...so i found this seller on ebay that is selling a 3" magnapack, ive read alot about them and ive came across the fact that i like my car being super loud but i just dont like that raspy sound at higher rpms, so as i was researching magnapacks i read that they sound very similar to the magnaflow catbacks for f bodys just slightly louder since its a straight through muffler(bullet style) and that they actually uave a deeper tone to them instead of that loud abnoxious raspy sound...so im gonna go ahead and switcth out my loudmouth resonator and weld on a magnaflow magnapack and see how that sounds! Hopefully everything goes as planned
