Default Is it true that some 02 T/A's came w/LS6??

I read on LS1 tech that some of the 2002 T/A's may have came with the LS6 V8. I have 1 of 25 White/White covertiables made in the last few months of production of the T/A so I was told by Pontiac Historical Services. I have been told that my car has the LS6 intake how do I tell if it has A LS6/LS1?Vin # or what???

P.S. My T/A came with a 273 gear and that's to high a gear for me. I want to go with the 373 gear, Some have told me that's to much gear & I should go with the 342 gear. I believe I have the 7.5 10 bolt rear end. Has anybody every put new gears in. any advice welcome!!!!!!

P.S.S. The car runs 13:40's in the 1/4 at 104 mph with only a slp cold air induction kit/whisper lid & a few free mod's. Is that normal ET's for a Convertiable T/A. Any advice to improve my Mustang Spanking Abality????

All 2001-2002 LS1s came with the LS6 intake manifold. Some of the later year 2001 and some of the 2002 LS1s found in f-bodies have the LS6 engine block, but none have the LS6 heads. There are some casting numbers on the block somewhere, viewable from under the car. I'm not sure of those numbers, but you could probably search for them on this site somewhere. The LS6 block doesn't offer any performance increase, just a tiny bit more durability.

If your car is an automatic, do a torque converter swap before messing with the gear ratio. You might actually enjoy having that 2.73 on the highway, if you get the right converter.

13.40s are normal.

I'm baffled over the amount of people who think some fbodies come with an LS6 motor.

Get a 3.73 gear. You won't be disappointed. Also, make sure you get a nice stall converter...maybe a 3500 stall or so. That should come before the gear. Your 13.40 ET is right on par with every other LS1 basically.

I still have some people that think I'm kidding when I say I have the same motor as in the Vette. Then of course their next question is.... 'is it as fast?'
