Default Oil pump ???

Do I have to pull the oil pan on my 04 gto ls1 to get the 10 mm bolt out from the oil pump to change it or is there any other way to do it

i have never done it but i know you can.... the trick is like you said getting the bolt out of the pick up without dropping it in the pan..... a friend of mine tied fishing line around it and was able to do it without removing the pan.... but its certainly a gamble

well im the one working on slowgoats car. today we tried the fishing line trick around the bolt and it worked GREAT!!! i was able to unscrew the bolt and when it came out it fell to the bottom of the pan. but with the ol fishing line around it i was able to pull it right out and finish the pump swap. Getting it back in was teadious but was able to be done
