Default SES flasshes. Code P1406

I already changed the EGR valve and the problem is still there.

The problem?

Car takes many cranks to turn.

Whenever I step on it, the rpm needle stays steady. Doesnt climb rapidly or anything. However when I let go of the accelerator, the car accelerates. This is driving me nuts. No one from houston thats LS1 can help me out. I sent PMs with my number and no replies.

Please help me. I have no job and my parents dont either. I cant shell out hundreds of dollars to fix something that can probably be fixed with half that.

Thanks guys.

My car
1996 3.8L Firebird 5-speed. It was hell looking for the throttle body.

EDIT: Normal RPMs were like 900RPM. Now its like 750 or so. (idle)

Stepping on the gas = the rpm needle reaches 2 and stays there.

Just the pipe thing that connects to the egr. I havent cleaned the bottom one.

Also I stepped on the gas all the way and the car stuttered and almost stalled on me. could it be the ignition coils?

I seafoamed my car to see if that would help but no.

also back when the car was not in this crap state, I was able to peel out beautifully (accelerating to 3K rpm and letting go of the clutch).

Now whenever I try to do that the cars tires just chirp instead of screech.

Its hard to put it in writing especially using this phone.

Please respond

I think it might be one of the following:

Bad ignition coils
clutch

I really hope its not the latter. I'm gonna get the coils tomorrow.

Is 1406 the only code? The SES flashes when it detects misfires so was there not a misfire code to go along with it? It is solid when an error is tripped and reported.

If a coil is out you should be getting a misfire code for the two cylinders the coil is for.
