Default stock airbox question

i was messing around under the hood, and i took the air box apart, and i was puzzled by what i saw. the computer, the entire computer unit, is INSIDE my airbox.under the filter, and then another filter, i guess to prevent water? however, i guess the cpu is there, to constantly be getting cooled with air. i dont know guys.

also, i noticed a TUBE, that went from the induction whole the car sucks its air through, inside the airbox and directly into the filter. i decided id take that out. and now theres no tube inside the air box, just a hole and the filter.

any input guys? thanks

Sounds like you have the secondary air pump.

It's just part of the airbox. I pulled mine out, then cut and drilled a mess of holes to allow for more airflow. That was until i scrapped the whole thing when I finally ordered a cold air kit.

The purpose of the "tube" is to reduce intake noise, make it quieter.

I was told it was called a *air horn* to dampen the air sound so I removed it. I made the hole bigger, tossed in a k&n filter and added a smooth intake albow Instead of the accordian tube.
