Default EPS cam results in my procharged car

The cam sounds great and really performs for my application. I was worried I would blow to much boost out the exhaust but it is perfect for the pulley procharger picked....actually a little more boost than I was wanting so I hope the engine doesn't destroy itself. The output far exceeded my expectations, I am really happy the cam that Geoff spec'ed out for me did the job!

Results: 594whp/533tq
Min AFR 11.1, Max 11.6, avg 11.3
15 or 16 deg timing

Stock bottom LS1
Kooks 1 7/8" long tubes
Corsa catback
Lonnies twin fuel pump in tank set up
D1SC procharger, twin 4.5 IC's, 8 rib, 3.85 blower pulley 10psi max boost
EPS cam 226/234 .598/.612 114+2
Mcleod RST Twin Clutch

Let me know what you guys think about the results. Tune seems safe, they said the IAT's looked really good and it was making enough power no reason to go real aggressive with the tune. I leave for power tour on tuesday so I will start leaning on it hard this weekend to get a feel for it before I leave.

1st of all, Nice #'s. 2nd, Im nobody to criticize but Id expect it to be a lil higher due to another thread in the dyno section of a all stock ls6 crate engine with 9lbs on a procharger making 605rwhp or something like that. I dont know how much better your cam is than the ls6 one or the ls6 heads vs your heads? Maybe diff dyno conditions or operators has something to do with it? Either way, I would love to have your #'s In my sig.

Ya I seen those threads and agree those cars are making stupid power for crates. I think the heads have a decent amount of improvement. All dyno's are a little different, I am not sure if you caught that Hot Rod mag article on dynos, pretty good read. Along the lines of that article take it for what you will but IPS says their dyno runds 6-8% lower numbers than other dynos they have compared to. If that is true it could be mid 600hp. I will put it on the dyno at powertour to get a second opinion on output.

I totally agree. Hell my car running 6.5-7.5 lbs boost put down 414/392 when it was about 90 degrees last week on the dyno in memphis, tn at Dyno speed racing. Its a dynojet and Needless to say I was let down with the low #'s but it seems to run good, IDK...

That afr is low. Why did the tuner leave it that low. I would think in the 11.6-11.9 range would be better. Does the car smoke a lot with the afr?

I dont think so, I will need to have someone watch the car while I am at WOT to find out. Since I was making way way more power than what my goal was I guess he didn't feel the need to lean it out?

Now that this is in the dyno section can you tune experts tell me what you think about how safe the tune is? I am worried I am pushing the limits of the engine at 9-10psi, I want to make sure at minimum the tune is on the safe side.

Nice numbers! but Id would have meth injection kit on that car for safety. Most people say 8 psi is the maximum "safe" limit of a stock bottom end. No way Id run 9-10psi, thats just asking for a blown up motor.

Yes I am worried about that too. I will probably get a larger pulley and have it retuned with meth as well, double safety.

I just changed my shift like to 5600rpm to stay out of full boost. What do you guys think about that as a temperary countermeasure to the higher boost?

Thanks for everyones advice on the set up. Here is the dyno graph. This evening I set my shift light to 5600rpm as a temporary countermeasure to the slightly above safe boost. Look at the graph and let me know if you guys have any other thoughts. Even shifting at 5600 I am not loosing too much torque/hp and it looks to be right at about 8lbs of boost.

I think setting your shift light at 5600 was a good idea. Throw in some Torco octane booster would be a good idea to unitl you get your meth kit on & tuned.

I just got back from power tour and my friends did say it smoked slightly for a very short time. I dont see this being a problem but I will be getting it tuned again soon with meth on it to protect the engine as much as possible.

Will do soon! Just got back from power tour so the car is a wreck right now. Maybe I will snap some new ones when I get it cleaned up.

Great results. I would love a charger but I'm on a budget build
