Default antenna

My electric antenna died a year or so ago in the extended position. Is there a way to get the antenna down without breaking it or completely removing it. I can not push it down, although I have not put a lot of force into it I plan on replacing it, just not yet.

If its been that long, you probably can't fix it at this point as the gears inside have stripped. You'll have to pull it out and hope that the rack gear on the antenna tether hasn't broken in two.

If you put it back in, how will you use the radio?
