Default Broken spring

I just started installing my tick master and noticed the clutch return spring is broken. I don't know how long it has been broken but that just might be the problem I was having. This is in an 01 ws6 is this a common problem and does gmeven still sell this spring? The last two things I tried to get for this car were discontinued. Has anyone seen this problem before?

You're supposed to remove the spring when you install the Tick master.

Are their any benefits for removing this spring on a completely stock setup?
