dont know if this is where i should be posting this but i got a new alternator and installed it and it still is not charging the battery. has anyone had a problem like this that can help me out? battery reads 11.85v when the car is running. im pretty sure that is not right. if anyone can give me some info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Is the plug with the red wire plugged in all the way? What about the main battery cable?

Are you sure you have a good battery? If you had a bad alternator and it was made bad by a weak/bad battery that perhaps sat over the winter w/out a trickle charge, you need to replace the battery first, else you could strain new alternators to fail with that same battery.

GM does not make new alts.......only remans

Make sure that grounding screw on the regulator is properly installed

I pulled that trick on myself about 2 years ago and had the same problem

x2 I hate reman alternators because i only get paid to put them in the first time, not the second and third.
