Default TH350 swap??

An Idea ive been throwing around my grandpa has a TH350 built out of his Monte Carlo with a 3500 stall and everything. I see a lot of guys doing the TH400 swaps is there a reason people do that over the TH350?? I'm sure I will need a crossmember and drive shaft and things like that but was just curious why people don't build the TH350 over the TH400


(If it comes to this my car will be a tin can race car have the other 4L60E out of my parts car going into mine and hopefully it holds up)

I have a th350 and it does great. On high tq motors the trans brakes creep sometimes but all and al itsok. Make sure it has a hardend sprag ring thing and a 700r4 high element sprag. Also don't do second gear roll punches and it'll last forever.

Do you drive this car on the highway? If yes I wouldn't do the th350 swap. I had a th350 in my car when I got it. It's not very comfortable.

stated the car would be a race car if i went with the TH350 hopefully the 4L60E will last

Was curious what all it takes for the swap

If the tranny your getting has a 9" tailshaft you can use the same drive shaft, but you also can modify your stock cross member to, one bolt will work for the linkage. thats about all off the top of my head.

Crossmember
Trans cooler/ trans lines
Flexplate
Convertor
Shifter assembly.
Possibly DS

I just went out to my garage and looked at everything I pulled out to put a t56 back in my car.

Depending on how you run it you may need to hook up the Kick-down cable somehow, and the Vac line.

I'm swapping one in my MCSS for track use..TH350 with Manual Valve Body, 4500 Stall, Ratchet Shifter.
