making a standalone 4l80e controller from factory pcm
I've read on other forums in order for an electronic transmission to work in a carb or other swapped motor you need to connect the tps, cts, speedo, and rpm signal. And if the transmission needs tuning well it still has the factory diagnostic port that the vehicle came with. And my concern that if I swap the strans and pcm into my diesel jeep if the trans needs tuning how can they go about it? I would need the diagnotic port right? I plan to strip the harness I have and only leave the sensors mentioned above. And the ones for the diagnostic port. But which ones are those? Also how does the pcm get power? Well any tips and advice will GREATLY be appreciated!!!

Which PCM and harness are you going to use?
Knowing the vehicle they came from you only need the wiring diagram to modify the harness to suit your needs.
I think you would have better results with a standalone 4L80E controller or a full manual valve body, because you need to buy tunning software, PCM, harness, sensors, etc.

I came across a company that makes just what it sounds like you are after, a standalone controller for an electronic trans in a carbed car. I forget the name of the company but I found them easily on google. TCI apparently also makes one. I don't think it would be worth the trouble to try to run the pcm as just a trans controller.
