Default when are mainstuds a good idea

i mean its never a bad idea, butwhat power amount makesyou wanna start thinking about studs on an ls2 or 3

IIRC, the LSX 454R is making 750bhp and uses the GM main bolts that come with every LSX block shipped from GMPP. In my opinion, I'd be more concerned with RPM than power when thinking about main studs.

Our general rule is that the stock mains are good to approximately 700hp. Its never a bad idea to throw them in there, cheap insurance in my opinion.

Personally, I'd want to use studs anywhere that the base threads are aluminum. Something about torquing steel bolts into aluminum threads makes me cringe...
