Default rear end making noise

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28 with the 323 differential and have tried to have it rebuilt due to a loud noise at high speeds. The mechanic replaced the ring and pinion with a motive gear part and it still makes a horrible noise. Is there somewhere to buy a new rearend? I do not even care if its the 323. One last thing the car has a ASR button on the dash is that traction control or something else?

Thank you

Dustin

ASR is traction control.

Thank you. I thought ASR was traction control. Now to decide if I should rebuild this thing or look for something used in a junk yard. If any comments on the best way to go would be appriciated. Thank you again.

pick up/watch out for a 98-02 4 channel 3.23(GU5) or 3.42(GU6) used rearend.
typically couple hundred bucks to do a quick transplant and still have your original as a spare or to leisurely rebuild.
