"budget rearend upgrade" I'm helping a good bud upgrade his 01SS. He has full bolt ons, all suspension mods, and I've convinced him to upgrade his rearend before adding H/C.
It's a 6sp so I know it's gonna need some beef! Is there a "Bolton" option without dropping $2500? I'm thinking 9" 430gears and 35spline axels.

Seems like you hit it on the nose. 9" is the best route to go under 2500. If you want it cheaper look for a used one. Most after market "upgraded" rear ends are all about the same price give or take a little excluding "fab 9s".
