Default how many bolts in oil pan?

hello,i have a 2001 camaro.i'm trying to lower the oil pan to change the timing chain.i removed the 2 bolts holding on the timing cover,2 longer one's in the pan by the trans, and 5 on each side.loosened the bolts 3/4 of the way out.total of 14 bolts.all with a 10mm socket and speed wrench.well, the pan won't budge. i tried tapping it with a rubber mallot.also tried tapping it with a 2x4 and a small hand mall.is there any other way to get the chain out, without removing the pump?also i do have around 3/4 clearance between the pan and k member.is it something to do with the rivets they install from the factory, that the pan won't budge?car has 60,000 miles.any help is appreciated.thanks

My only imput to this thread is... if you do remove the oil pan, BE CAREFUL with the long bolts... they like to break when you are torquing them.

Default oil pan

i double checked the number of bolts ,and it is 15 with the bolt with the bracket that holds the trans cooler lines on the pass side. i had that one out also, and it won't drop at all.so, i see 6 bolts on the pass side, and 5 bolts on the driver's side,2 for the timing cover, and the 2 long one's in the back.i may just reinstall the stock chain back until i go through the motor in the future.

Sorry for the bump and thread hi-jack.

What is the best way to repair the two long bolts near the transmission if they're stripped? Its leaking oil slowly because it's stripped.

Those thread into the bottom of the rear engine cover. You would need to remove/rethread/replace the rear cover.

the pan has to budge, hit it with a mallet and make sure nothing else is holding it.
