Default Spec rebuilt locally for 300$..Should I?

I talked with the owner of local shop that says he can rebuild my Spec stage 3 with the same hp rating for 300$. Thats very cheap, but this shop is known to make great work when it comes to performance clutch rebuilds.

Is there anything I should know about rebuilding a clutch?

Is it as good as it sounds?

..I would keep my Spec lightweight flywheel thats been resurfaced.

We can't answer this. If he's got a good rep & your pressure plate is not over fatigued, it can work. That's about all that can be offered here.

He'll probably use a new disk, surface the flywheel, clean up the pressure plate surface & shim as required. Good thing about a reputable clutch shop is that know enough to mic the assembly rotation in order to ensure proper alignment. They should also balance the flywheel pressure plate as an assembly.

I'm not sure about this idea anymore..I think I'll stick to my original idea; Monster level 3 clutch! Since I dont have a lot a free time to work on my car, I dont wanna ''try'' anything; I prefer to invest in brand new parts. Maybe if my Monster clutch fail, I'll give this local shop a try!

Rebuilt clutches are a valid way to go.

If the shop has a good rep. w/ local racers, I'd give it a go.

I've never had anything rebuilt but stocker clutches so I can't comment on the pricing.
