inital tune for new engine

inital tune for new engine kind of new to EFI and would like to know how to go about tuning for a freshly rebuilt 355 with higher compression bigger injectors the works. Can i install the engine and drive it to a shop for a dyno tune or do i need a "base tune" to start the motor and drive it? not sure how to go about it as i said kind of a newbe to computer controled engines any help is apperciated. If i need a base tune do i need any equipment or do i just send the computer to someone with the specs?
