Default RT Hotwire kit hooked to battery?

I had a fuel pump installed when my car was in for a tune. The guy hooked the Racetronics hotwire kit right to the battery (still fused.) But is there any difference or potential problem by doing this??

Just curious. I was thinking of putting it where RT wants it mounted. (to the alt)

Funny, I'm actually finishing that install right now.

The theory is there is a current drop between the alt and the battery in F-Body wiring and to get the absolute max from the fuel pump it needs to come directly from the alternator itself.

I'm not claiming to be an expert, just regurgitating the executive brief of what was on the RaceTronix site. I can tell you this... just replacing the factory wiring with their hotwire kit should be good for something - the factory stuff is THIN!

I would say put a volt meter on your + bat term and rev to 3000 rpm
try the same at your + alt term

bet both read ~14.5 to 16 volts.

I have mine mounted on the alt per instructions. Go for the higher voltage location for best fuel pump pressure as designed.

15v sets an overvolt check light doesn't it? (IIRC)

And the voltage drop theory sounds probable.

Mine is on the drivers side hot terminal for the fuse box and no problems. My alt bolt was on too tight to break loose and I was worried Id break it, so that was next best option I could think of.

Default Just an update...

I finished the pump and wiring install and everything has been working well. I now get 62 PSI at the rail with the engine running where I barely had the recommended 58 before. Needless to say the car runs and drives better all around - even in the 100+ degree heat.
