Anyone know about the rear passenger 1/4 panel and bumper panel gap on 93-02 camaros?

Anyone know about the rear passenger 1/4 panel and bumper panel gap on 93-02 camaros? I noticed a long time ago that every camaro I see has a pretty big gap in the rear quarter panel where it meets the rear bumper on the passenger side.
When I got my first camaro I thought it was because it had a little knick right there and it just got moved around. Now after about 9 camaros, every one has had it except for one where it was taken care of by the previous owner.
Everyone I can remember seeing has the gap too, except for two cases where I pointed it out to the owners and they both had had it taken care of by a body shop.
Always on the passenger side.
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. It's been on every one of our cars(mine, friends, family).
