Angry 97 Pontiac Firebird Won't start! Please Help!

I own a 1997 Pontiac Firebird and it's definitely giving me some problems!!
It will not start. It is not the battery, the starter or alternator. I had a friend replace the ignition and it is not that either. They also thought he stock and aftermarket alarms were causing something to go wrong as well. After re-wiring it, It still didn’t help. I recently put a new coil pack on it because it was misfiring on cylinder 1 and 4. I heard that the actual switch behind the cylinder lock could possibly be bent or something. I’m not sure. I do know that the car will crank and the starter operates, but only if the key is held in the ON position. Once the key is let go it shuts down. I don’t think it would be the Vehicle Theft Deterrent System because I am told that if that was the issue that car would shut off even when the key is being held.
Please reply with any comments or useful info!
