Can i wet sand my t/a taillights

Can i wet sand my t/a taillights If i wetsand the taillights to get the scratches out and then polish and wax after will they look normal or will the red part dissapear or fade???? My question sounds stupid i know but i did the filler panel and it looks amazing now and i want my lights to look just as good.

i did my rear center piece and also i did my tails.
i used wetsanding 600, 1500 and 2000 if i had it with water constantly flowing on it....just used the garden hose.....after that i used some plastic polish and they came out great and shiny *** hell!!
all the light scratches were gone.
