Default Me vs SR20DET 240

Ok so my buddy just got this 240sx that he's all proud of. We were talking the other night about it and he mentions to me that its faster than mine. I calmly said "ok man I guess well have to race soon". It has the common sr20 swap, stock turbo, 15psi I believe. Hes got a good clutch, some suspension stuff and a tune I'd hope, Im not real sure on that. After doing some searching for threads on this topic I found a few and it seems that it would be a somewhat close race with the potential to go either way?? All my mods are in my sig. I asked him if the previous owner had ever had it to a track, of course he didnt. My car has been a best of 7.96 1/8th with a 1.81 60ft. That was with ET streets. It had it dyno tuned not too long ago and put down 340/346. What do you guys think, Im gonna do it regardless of course. Were friends and both respectful of pretty much all cars that can run, theres no bitterness going on, it will just be for the fun of it and to see what happens. Lets have some input here guys.

I've raced one, it was pretty much like that I would guess (stock turbo). It was a friend at the time's car and he definately knew what he was doing. Anyways I was in my 95 GT at the time and it made 328rwhp 337rwtq and had 3.08 gears I think (I was shifting at 5,000rpms or so, so the gears didn't hurt like you think they would). I had a passenger and he was solo. I pulled him decent through 3rd and 4th. Maybe put a carlength on him or 2. He said he was making around 28xrwhp. Around this same time I ran a couple bolt on LS1s and I pulled all of them alittle too. Should be a decent run if he knows what he is doing.

Stock turbo is small. 15psi is close to maxed so Id say around 300whp

If I had to guess, I'd say he's making anywhere between 270 and 290whp, depending on his other mods.
Could be close, but I think you'll take the win.

I had a buddy back in Hawaii with a 94 s13 240sx with a sr20 motor this thing was a piece, but the kid was fast. The car put down 404rwhp @ 2500rpms. I forget what was done to it, but he walked away from me in a street race. I was putting down 400 to the rear wheels. I had to go get the bottle for that guys. With a 75 shot he couldn't hang.

If he's still on the stock turbo then it won't be that fast, maybe a low 13 second car if he's got it tuned right. You should walk him.

Funny that you say that, my friend's car would seriously walk the Mach1 from a roll at the time (stock tune, only mods were o/r mid and catback). But we went to the track and I ran 13.2 and he ran low 14's. LOL

The sr20det stock T25 turbo is relatively the size of a cake doughnut lol. But seriously, I don't see you having much problem with him due to your mods and numbers you mentioned.
I also have a buddy that just purchased a 1990-1992 240 with the sr20 swap. His has an unknown turbo (bigger then stock but not "big" by any means), 550cc injectors, 300zx maf, tuned by Enjuku Racing and has a good amount of suspension work. He wants to run my Vette. He knows he's going to lose, probably by a lot, but wants to know where his car stands anyways. He had it tuned for a t3/t4 turbo due to he's pitching the unknown turbo it came with soon.

Ran him like 3 times. Once from 2nd gear then 2 from a dead stop. Got him pretty good all three times. The first race from the light I fucked up a little bit. I tried leaving at like 2k and spun all of first gear and smacked the rev limiter a few times. Second time was much better, just rolled out normally and then hammered it. I have a few crappy phone videos. My buddy who was filming didnt keep a very good eye on the 240 during the races. However, you can judge how far behind he was by the time between when I let off and his flybys.

Looks like you guys had fun. In the first vid it looked like you quite pulling after the launch and the 240 was sticking with you pretty good. You two should get some roll races done asap and report back. And yeah, your buddy needs to pay attention to the video when recording, lol.

The top and bottom videos are the same run. Thats the run I messed up on a little. I wish he had the camera on them during the run that is the middle vid, pulled him more on that one. Oh well, Ill try to get him to do a few more.

Only chance he has is a dig race. You will destroy him from any speed over 60mph. And tell your simple minded camera man that his *** walks next time he screws up the videos that bad again.
