Default Ls1-ls6?

how much would it cost...what does it need and how much actual work is needed to get the engine to be the LS6...is the ls5 the same size or is it a 427?....if its smaller would it just be better to go for the 427....ima lil behind on posts so i fugure catch up now lol...

some1 said in that one mustang dyno forum that it would be 1300....but i dont understand whats needed for it and how much work would be involved and everythign

in order to get LS6 power, you would need the LS6 cam and LS6 heads (since you have an 02, you have the LS6 intake). the LS6 motor actually has a different block and a bunch of other unique stuff too so if you're asking how much it would cost to actually make an LS6.....the answer is however much an LS6 crate engine costs...

LS6 cams are usually around 400 or so with springs and stuff....i dunno how much for the heads exactly...

why would you have your standards so low? for the cost to overhaul your ls1 to ls6 spec you can pick up a TEA/FMS h/c combo and be walking ls6's all day long

paceparts sells a conversion kit ranging from 1500-2500 depending on year and if you want ported heads.

and there is no ls5. theres lt1, ls1, ls6, ls2, and ls7.

and deepblue since he has an 02 he already has a 25% chance of having an ls6 block standard.

ls7? Never heard, care to explain. I've heard of ws-7, which is ws-6 but, with all the mods done by the owner and not the factory.

The LS7 is going to be the LS6 version of the LS2, the 427ci next gen engine for the C6 Z06. And so far, I believe they are still keeping the Z06 designation, just bumping the LS number from 6 to 7, just as they're bumping the LS1 to LS2.

i know.

also technically there IS an LS5 but i dont think you want to put one in a fourth gen f-body....it was the lo-po version of the 454 big block that came in chevelles and el caminos and such...

forget both of them.....just do a good set of heads and a good cam and you'll eat LS6s for breakfast and have a lot more money leftover than if you went the 427 route. ask around some of the head/cam guys will point you in the right direction.

It's all word on the street. Even if it is called
LS7, which is only a logical conclusion, it won't
be out until 2006 model year at earliest.

Don't forget that some inside sources also
say that depending on Dodge's response to the
500hp C6 with the Viper, an ultimate superC6 may
drop that will "blow away all know supercars"
and cost over 100 grand. I think either way GM
needs a exotic to match both the Viper and Ford GT40
