Default KW Variant 3 coilovers

Has anyone put the KW Variant 3 coilovers on their f body? If so how do you like them. I tried to see if there were any reviews on here and saw none. I read some on other cars and people have raved about how great they are. I'm just seeing if they're worth the money.

I sold a set just about two weeks ago. They are very nice, but they are expensive, and when folks complain about $800 for Koni's, $2k causes a lot of folks to beg off.

That said, they are the best coil-overs out there for the car. They are truly double adjustable, they aren't cheap drag shocks that aren't even gas charged. Hilary who works here has them on her CRX with some different rate springs and they work great on there. Dodge was using them on the last Viper ACR's they were building.

http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...=148&ModelID=7 I have them @ $2199.99.

I also have springs that you can swap in should you find that you'd like to change the stock rates they come with. I never recommend that until you try what they have. If you aren't slamming the car, the stock rates work quite well, but are a little too soft if you are really into track work or you are going to go down more than 1.25".

Thank you very much Sam! I will not be doing any track work. I just want my car to ride nice and be able do some spirited street driving. I also don't know how much I will be lowering it. I currently have 19x10 and 20x12 rims for the car. How far down the wheels will let me go will be the deciding factor. Again thank you so much for the input!

No problem.... if you decide to go that way, I can get them no sweat. Even if they aren't in stock in the USA I can air freight them direct from Germany (but they are usually in stock here anyway).

if your not going to be pushing the limits of the car I think the KW's are way overkill. a set of Sam's springs and Koni shocks is pretty much what 85% of people will ever need.

For obvious reasons, I assume these are NOT coil-overs in the rear, correct?

Cookba....are the Sam's springs a coilover type bc I love the adjustability of coilovers. That is the reason why I like the KW's. I saw some adaptable type coilovers and people didn't seem to like them.
Libertyforall1776...I do believe they are coilovers in the back.
Sam Strano...I will send you a pm.

KW for the F-bodies use adjustable coil spring collars in the back along with conventional shocks.

No, his springs are conventional lowering springs with around a 1.2in drop. But as above he has the KW's.

If your heart is set on coilovers it sounds like they are the best.

tuning in on KW Coilovers. I've had my eye on them for awhile.

Sam, can the KW Coilovers produce lower ride height than your springs? I'm thinking I either want to do ground control on Koni's or KW Coilovers. I gotta have ride height control, drives me nuts how my car sits high on the driver side, and also I want to be able to swap spring rates for different uses.

THANKS! Don't mean to hijack, just wanted to expand on the topic

Yes, you can lower the car more with those than with my springs. KW's allow about a 2.1" drop vs. mine around 1.2.

Koni's require modifications to put coil-over sleeves, and the rear springs come loose when the axle droops. Koni's are single adjustable, KW's are double adjustable. If you were going to run Koni DA's and a Ground Control kit then it'd be silly not to run the KW's for the costs involved. KW's rear springs don't come loose, and they don't require any mods to run them (you know since they are made that way).

The only reason why I was straying away from the KW's was on your website it advertises a max drop of 1.5" and I wasn't sure if that would be enought for me...

can you explain further why its stated this way?

You mention the spring rates are a bit soft from the factory, approx what are they? and what springs are readily available for swapping?

Thanks SAM!

Fronts are 400... same as LS1 Pro-kits, where in comparison I run a 550. Rears they don't actually tell you, from what I've seen/felt they seem to be in the 130-150 range, I run a 150 working rate.

Race springs are easy to get if you want to swap. We need only figure out what size we need for your use. Quality coil-over springs for the front are about $60-80 each depending on size and brand.
