Neither is necessarily faster or better than the other.
It is possible that with the manual you can accelerate faster by shifting gears at the right moment.
It is also possible to achieve better fuel mileage with the manual by keeping the rpm's low and because of the additional 5th gear.
I hear alot that manuals tend to last longer than autos in general, but with a used car, it all depends on the way the previous owner drove the car.
Alot of people like manuals because you can have a better feel for the car and a manual can be more fun to drive.
So it all depends on preference.
I like my auto because my car is a daily driver. I don't think I would like shifting and clutching in heavy traffic or when im tired etc
If i had a weekend only car, it would be a manual for sure.

Manuals better.
Totally stock and drivers being equal, M6 is faster. I love my manual, but there are times when I tell myself "why didn't I get a damn auto" being my car is my dd. But there's also times when I yell to my self "thats why I got a Fu<king stick", and truth be told I say this more than the other.

He's asking about a T-5 not the 6 speed. Coza, you need to get on a V6 board and ask these questions because a lot of people are going to think you're asking for a Formula V8, not a V6.
T-5 has some serious weakness if you plan on adding any power adders to the car. For just DD use, the T-5 is great.
You have to do a few things to help "preserve" your T-5 if you plan on racing with it or adding more power whether it is by nitrous, FI or even all motor.
