Default Goal 700+rwhp/tq w/ KB 3.6L Stroked 6.0L or LS3?

So I'm trying to get a shortblock together. End goal is 700+ at the wheels through a 6 speed and 9".

I will be using ported LS3 heads either way and cost is a factor. I just want a good solid foundation. Both ways I would go 4" stroke all internals will be new.

I can buy a LS3 shortblock with big cam (.644/.613) for $1150. It does have scratches on #6 from a spark plug melting. (200 shot) Crank/rods are perfect and I could buy a used piston to sell complete. But what can I get for crank/rods/pistons? Cam should pull a few bills. I would just want block, oil pump, and front/rear covers.

Or should I go with a stock 6.0L shortblock that I can pick up for $300?

Will I see much advantage of say a 408 vs 416?

Thanks,

Jason
