Default is my panhard brace supposed to be bent on the passenger side?

i beleive that my 98 z28 was in an accident before i bought it, but while dropping my gas tank, i had to remove the panhard bar brace located above the panhard bar.......it has a little crease about 4-6 inches long on the passenger side, as well as a little bend too.....is that normal?
