1998 z28--need advice-lq4 swap--wiring questions
Hey guys,
I have a 1998 Z28. I just bought a LQ4 with PRC LS6, a FAST 102/92 setup, a TSP 233/239 .595/.605 cam, and a few other things.
I have searched around and tried to find the answer to what I'm about to ask, but haven't had any luck.
Ok, I know I'll need to swap out the oil pressure sending unit, temp sending unit, and the knock sensors for the 98 stuff. What I need to know is if the 1998 PCM will work for this swap?
I've read a few threads about people not liking the 98 PCM because of it's limited tuning parameters and everything. I have a 2002 PCM and engine harness as well, but I don't have a clue about how to do the swap. Would I be able to swap the PCMs and just repin the connectors? Or would I have to pull the dash and swap everything? I actually have an entire 2002 Z28 that's been wrecked but everything is still good wiring wise... I just don't want to rip the dash out of both cars if I don't have to...
Thanks in advance!
Derek

According to other threads here the LQ4 has a 24x reluctor wheel which is the critical element for it to work with a '98 PCM. Not sure if the LQ4 has a front or rear cam sensor; if in the front, you only need a harness extender to reach it. Yes, you also need to use your '98 knock sensors and other sensors. Almost certainly you will need a tune.
(I currently run a '98 PCM on a modified LS2, which is a really odd combo.)

By CTS, I'm guessing that's the coolant temp sensor?
I have a copy of the tune that came with the engine setup. It was run on a 2007 truck PCM with DBW. So, I'm guessing I'll just need someone to plug all of the numbers out of that tune into the PCM in my car.
Not sure how good the tune is, but the car ran an 11.23 and was running 28* of timing on 91 octane.
