Default LS1 Exhaust Question

Got a 1968 Mustang. LS1 motor is already in the engine cabin. Everything fits well except exhaust manifold flange is hitting the steering rod. I need headers that will clear the steering rod. Are there block hugger headers with the flange in a lower location?

the flange on the headers is bumping the steering shaft...not unusual with stangs. I had a similar problem with my 95 gt when ip ut equal length shorties (Direct bolt ons with a fitment issue...no way!!! haha) i figured out how to fix it, ... bought long tubes so there was no flange to worry about hitting anything. i thought id have issues with the primaries clearing it, but that wasn't the case.

hope that helps some.

Get a set of custom made headers from someone like Kooks. best way to avoid fitment issues, but $$$.
