Mach 1 vs 350Z
On my way home from work I slowly pass by a silver 350Z as I'm trying to make my way over into the exit lane. He starts to speed up and I downshifted so I could get over. He pretty much stayed there at my rear wheel until I started to get into my powerband and I pulled a little on him to 110. That allowed me to get over into the exit lane I wanted. Lucky for me he is getting off on the same exit I am.
Unlucky for us the traffic never really cleared until he got to his exit lane which has a very long lane. He got over in that lane because he had got caught behind a semi. The car slowing us up got over and I pulled over into the middle lane. I saw him start to do a fly-by so I downshifted again and hit it when he was about a car and a half back. He got up to my door, I started to pull again and I ended up about 2 up. It sucked that we couldn't get a clean run in.
Not too bad for a 5th gear pull
Cliffs:
Cammed M6 Mach 1 pulls 350Z by 1.5 and 2 cars from 70 to 110 and 120 in 5th gear.

Did those cams do much for you OP? And what cams did you do? I ask because I'm an ex Mach owner myself, 2 manuals and one auto, lol.
Good run, just sucks you guys weren't able to line up and get a proper run. I'm guessing it was a non-HR 350?

Well I went from 300/320 with bolt-ons to 360/345 with FR500 cams, LTs, and ported intake.

I heard these on a MACH 1 at a car show and I started drooling..
This will probably be the next mod..but first I am ditching the Black Bullits wheels for some super lite weight FR500s I found on line.

If you have the money get the comps. I had to get new valves and cams on a budget. I was going to do 96-98 Cobra cams then the whole FR500 valvetrain went on sale so I went with that. Where I screwed up on my build was my motor got jacked up at the machine shop. I had the option of an aluminum block 4.6 or a 4.6 based 5.0 if I wanted to pay another $500. I wish I would have pulled the trigger on that.

Yeah I graduate in December. We are going to rent until we have at least a years savings. A quarter million in student loans might keep me from toys though lol.

I have been there man however, when I graduated their was still jobs out there. I really feel bad for kids coming out of college today. They spend a ton of money on an education but they can't find good paying jobs (or any job) to help pay the student loans off. Hope eveything works out for you man!

..So true. That is one occupation that will never disappear! I also went in that direction. I am an electrical/automation engineer for the manufacturing of Pharmaceutical medications. I have managed to keep a job though all this BS...so far.

I'm really surprised at the gains the FR500 cams gave you. I was always told they were not worth it and that the 98 Cobra cams were the the way to go (if anything). My last Mach made 317/332 with an ORX and cat-back along with the dyno tune of course, but I couldn't see dropping that much money on 4 camshafts/parts for the very little gains that have always been claimed with the FR500 cams.
