Default Oil Priming Options Posted Here

There is more than a few LSx owners like myself that think the pull the plugs, disconnect the fuel pump and turn over the engine routine is not the best way to prime an engine. Here are four options I know of. If you have built a pre-oiler of your own, don't be stingy with the idea. Let other LS1tech members in on it.

This one was featured on the latest Hot Rod TV episode.

This one is a bit of a jerry-rig but it's what I use with good success.

This is rather expensive at $220.

But here is a knock-off of that design for much cheaper. Bet this would not be that hard to duplicate. Share if you've done it.

Not Hi-jacking your thread, just sharing what I have learned.
I have used the pull plugs, coil pack connectors, and fuel pump fuse with great success,, there is one thing that people leave out, That I have found makes all the difference in the world. I found this out because I was trying to prime an engine and could not get it up to the top side, after trying what I thought to be too long.
Here is what I did and have always done since and it works great, and cuts priming time way down.
remove the plugs, unplug coil connectors, and remove the fuel pump fuse. THEN climb under the car with a drain pan, REMOVE THE OIL FILTER,, have someone turn the car over until you have oil coming out of the nipple,Then put a fresh oil filter on that is full with oil. after that turn the engine over, and it will be no time until you have oil on the top side, works for me everytime and dont cost a dime..

interesting, good information. Will be going through this very soon on my LS.
only used the pull plugs and fuel pump fuse removal on engines we've done at work, but they've been, Land Rovers, Hondas and Alfas, mind you all same/similar.

With the Hybrids though haven't done any rebuilds on them but the Honda Hybrids you have to do the above mentioned filling the new oil filter fuel then putting it on.

Thats what I've done with every chevy oil change I've ever done ,,,,,,,,,,,it is worth doing at oil changes also ,,,,,,,,,,,,oil pumps up in 1/4 of the time ,,,,,,,,,not doing that (filling filter with oil first) can for sure take away potential miles from that engine . Just be sure You spend the time (about 5 min) to make sure the filter is full as the oil flows really slowly without pressure into n out of an oil filter .
And disconnecting the wiring harness from the coils is the only way to do it without risking killing You're coil packs ,,,,,,n they are'nt cheap .
