Default Are 00-02 ls1 exhaust manifolds better than pre 00

Here is the dilemma that i am faced with, i ran across some bbk shorty headers for my 00 z28 for $160 but i heard that 00 and later f bodys come with improved manifolds thus making the hp gain minimal . so if i used the bbk headers will it justify the hp to cost ?? FYI i live in CA so long tubes aren't exactly the best choice for smog

the shorties won't do any justice. They are no better than what you have already. Correct me if i am wrong!!

Yes, the '00-'02 manifold design was improved, so the gains from shorties would be marginal at best. The gains are pretty small even on the '98-'99 cars too.

If you do all that work to remove, why not install something better. And yes your shorting yourself if you go for shorties.
