Default what RVT

what brand of RVT are ya'll using for things such as the front timing cover (between oil pan and timing cover). on my SBC i always used "the right stuff" just wondering what everyone is using on the LS

EDIT: i looked in a book and got my answer,,, sometimes i forget about the library... sorry for clogging the forum with my nonsense.

i used the grey rtv for the pan and front cover corners on my recent build, only driven it a few hundred miles but so far, so good.

did you put along the whole bottom of the cover or just in the corners?

We use black RTV (room temperature volcanizing) silicone for most applications where silicone is needed here. We use just a dallop in each corner of the bottom of the front cover, not a huge bead all around.

thanks Matt, that's the same thing the book i read recommended. i did put a big dab in the corners but i also ran a 1/16 bead along the entire bottom of the cover,,, maybe shouldn't have don't the 1/16 bead along the entire bottom but it doesn't seem it should cause any problems... thanks again
