I've heard of people spinning to 7200 but that's a little crazy in my book. When i get my cam i'm going to spin it to 6500 with a 6600 rev limiter. This was you won't have to get a new shortblock every couple of years.

I would not spin stock valve springs over 6200.
I would not personally spin a stock bottom end over 6800 rpms on a regular basis.

Until you do a cam, headers, etc..., there actually isn't much of a reason to spin it too far past @5500. When my '01 was dyno'd peak power was made right at 5500, anything too far past that is pointless. You can of course adjust your shift points in a manner that dictates where in the power band you land after a shift, but understand that (on a stock car, anyhow) anything past 5500 or so is just making extra noise and adding wear.
