Default 3.73 or 4.10 w/ nitrous

On a stock internal motor with minor bolt ons are 4.10 to steep or is 3.73 the way to go? I would still like to gain something from the gear swap N/A. I guess I want my cake and eat it to.

IMHO 4:10's are too steep for nitrous.
Are you running a 6spd or A4?

4.30's Stock engine and a 12-bolt . Just a baby 100 shot, drop from a best of 12.51 to 11.38 in 1/4. If your rear-end is stock, 4.10's would be my choice. I had 3.73 in my stock rear-end before I blew it on one of my 5800 rpm dumps .

Once you start this mod'ing stuff, it will get expensive. You can expect: tranny problems (3 new ones, 2 re-builds); rear-end (I know have a 12-bolt); drive staft (I know have a drag-race one); bent push rods (I know have aftermarket ones). It will depend on what you want and where you are going. Is you car a daily driver? Do you drag often or just some street racing? If you only ocassionally drag (at the strip) but mainly a daily driver, go with the 3.73.

Make up your mind on what your really want, and go for it.

Once I get my new converter in and maybe one of those TR T-rex cams I'm gunna try a 4.10..... But with 3.73's my car worked great...... which of coarse is different. IMO anything LESS than a 4.10 is a waste of time. The 6-speeds are able to benefit from it much more b/c of the gear differences. AN A4 will need to go into overdrive b/c with a set of 4.10s and nitrous it would probably be at around 7000 crossing the traps. I am going to do a 4.10 with 28 in tires and that should drop me down some.... closer to 6800--- which is where that T-rex should PULL!
