Default Push Rod Guides Necessary?

I am building a 346 LS1 with worked 799 heads, LS6 springs, LS7 lifters, 02+ LS6 camshaft and stock LS1 rocker arms with the Comp Cams trunnion-upgrade. Are push rod guides necessary? Will they help in this application - a 2000 A4 mostly driven on the street, not revved above 6000?

I have searched for about an hour and haven't determined whether the rockers are self-aligning or not. I remember my 383 was built with PR guides, but that was because it had roller rockers. So the main question is, do I need PR guides? And more of a general curiosity question, do LS heads have PR guides pressed into the head casting or are the guides simply the casting bore?

Agreed, the factory rocker has a trunion that is bolted to a pedestal which aligns the rocker.

Ah, sure enough, just found a picture of the pedestal and noticed how it can't turn... great!
