Idle/Engine Issues...
98 LS1 with heads/cam and your usual bolt-ons. Its obviously getting cold out. I have to hold down the gas pedal to get the car to fire up. Once I let off the pedal, car dies. While driving, same thing. Let my foot off pedal, car dies. Ive read thru lots of forums trying to pinpoint the exact problem but I am at a loss. What is weird is once its been running for a bit, it might calm down and run properly. Or if I have the defrost on, itll run properly sometimes. OR, if I turn the ignition from off to run 10X, it seems to help. Any smart mo fo's got any ider's? Cause Im fresh out. Replaced wires, plugs, and fuel filter. Fuel pressure is around 58-65 psi consistently. The only other issue (on going for over a year), like others on the forum, my oil pressure seems low (5-10 on idle, no more than 35 down the interstate). Keep in mind, this all started as the weather got cold. No issues like this during spring/summer/early fall. Thanks for any feedback!

in my experience problems like that were related to vacuum leaks. Intake manifold gaskets or the CCV systems on old BMW's were always the culprit. I don't know about the low oil pressure though... sorry I wasn't more help.

im going to say look for a vac leak, are you running a speed den, tune?just thought i would ask, have you cleaned your maf? was your oil pressure low after the h/c swap, or did that happen over time?what kind of oil are you running? are you throwing any codes/dummy lights?any other out of the norm stuff going on, my first idea would be to get it scanned to see if that tells you anything

i would of thought it would be down to fueling as being cold it chucks a bit more fuel in same as the old days when you had a choke the ecu tells it to put a bit more fuel in to keep it going becouse when cold the air is denser
mine don't like the cold use's alot more fuel till the engine is worm
if it was a vacum leak it would be reving high on idle
