Default 5.3 turbo build - swaping in a ls6 cam

Well i have been searching around for more information with regard to swaping in a ls6 cam. Seems to be pretty popular for Turbo builds. The numbers on the cam seem to be pretty good as well.

My questions is when swaping into a 5.3 can the lifter, pushrods, rockers and timing chain be reused? I am swapping in a set of gmpp yellow springs but have not been able to find any definative info regarding the rest of the components?

Reuse the lifters and rockers. Lots of guys swap the pushrods to stronger ones. Usually Comp 7.4's. A new LS2 timing chain on the stock sprockers is a cheap upgrade too.

1. What part number are your reffering to "comp 7.4" I just searched on summit.com and didnt come up with anything fitting that description. I have heard seen people post that they used the "comp 7.4" before but must be missing something.

2. Where is the ls2 chain available? Dealer? any other cheaper sources? PN# if you have it?

Thanks.

I thought the LS2 timing chain was the same as the one used in the 5.3/6.0 motors (although apparently there were some slight revisions, they are basically said to be the same).

Ok so got the timing set squared away with yank.

As for the pushrods it sounds like what everone is refering to is just a standard 5/16 diam. - 7.40" length ?

MILLSMOTORVATION - Whats the reason you went with the longer 7.45"?
