Drag Racing Results - 12.56 at 110, tune, Lid, Catback 01 A4 SS

Hit the track today to take advantage of the 50 degree temps. My car is an automatic 2001 SS with a lid, street tune done by Creech, and a LM2 Catback. I am on street tires. My best for the day was a 12.56 at 110 mph with a 8.0 at 88.9 1/8th. My 60' for that run was 1.95, Hankook street tires. I ran a couple 12.6s, a 12.73, and a 12.58 as well.

Also wanted to include a vid for ROB02. He has a heads, cam, stall, tuned, DRs, full exhaust 02 SS. Badass car, ROB! It was nice meeting you bud!

If the weather info I got is correct, and if Dragtime's DA calculator is accurate, then the DA was -500'. Doesn't get any better than that, lol.

Only weight reduction is the jack and spare. Had between a 1/4 and 1/2 tank of fuel.

Also very nice of the video girl to say the times. I hate track videos where you can't see the times and have no idea what the car ran.

I'm still shocked that this car is running what it is with just a couple mods. I'd expect a 12.8 out of it, but not a 12.6, and definitely not a 12.5, and not at 110 mph, lol.

Those two mods are definitely worth it, moge11. I'm really surprised how many guys are still running stock tunes, especially the A4s.

I have it street tuned. Creech did it. The car has 14k miles on it.

RUNS KILLER!!! I know with better air mine has at least 8.25@86.3ish to 86.7ish as it sits... Tune and LS6 intake im pretty sure would put me right where you are, and i would just be tickled to death. lol

Appreciate it, man. I agree that a tune/Ls6 intake would have you in the mid 12s as well.

DA makes all the difference. At -500' DA it went 12.56, at +500 DA it ran a 12.61, at 1700' it ran a best of 12.72. All 1.9 60s... So altitude and temps add up for sure.

Ahh... honestly I wouldn't be surprised if you pulled an 8.1 or 8.0 on -DA like I was running in this weekend, then. Just have to keep that 60' the same or better.

My pass was on friday fun night.. next day on race day my buddy consistenly ran .15 faster!! from 8.18ish to 8.OH'S.....ida been in the twenties for sure.. and the air wasnt even great that day either...two weeks later had -300' but couldnt make it there... :(

Thanks for the compliments man! All it takes is plenty of practice, a decent 60', and some good air. You'll get the ET your aiming for, trust me. Hell, you're already right there with the 8.3 in that air.

Just for conversational purposes... my 98 Z28 had full suspension, a 3600 stall, full exhaust, 3.73s, aluminum DS, UDPs, CAI, and a tune.... it only went a best of 12.78 at 109 and 8.1 on a 1.78 60' (street tires). Says a lot about the changes GM made from year to year with the different heads, cam, intake mani, etc...

Thanks man. His car leaves so freaking hard compared to mine, lol. I just installed longtubes this past weekend (took me 11 hours!), so I'm headed back this weekend in hopes of a 12.2-12.3. I bought some used slicks/drag rims, but they're 28" tires, so I may not mess with them until I can sale the tires and get some 26" MTs.

So what headers do you have now?? how does it feel??....

Slapped some stainless OBX longtubes on a couple weekends ago. It took me 11 hours since it was my first time tackling headers, but they fit great and the gain is definitely noticeable. I fully expect to drop 2 tenths and gain 2 mph at the track. On the street, I can punch it at 40 or higher, but anything below that spins. I didn't have that problem pre headers, so its a good problem to have, lol. I went with their ORY as well. I'll get a couple vids up to show it off in a few minutes...

Threads like these make me unhappy with the terrible 3000+ DA I always have to run in around here. I calculated and my best time would come out to an 11.8@113.5 in -500 DA!

NICE!!!! I cant decide if i should buy OBX or ebay, or if i should hold out for TSP 1-7/8" headers

I don't know anything about TSP or the eBay headers. I'd say both are just as good as the OBX. The only thing that really swayed me to get the OBX was the price, the positive reports, and it including resonaters and a Y pipe. I don't have any clearance issues at all and it honestly doesn't hang any lower than the stock system.
