Default So, I didn't get raped by the 2010 SS....

Not a kill, but I didn't get raped. lol

I was on my way to get some dinner tonight and I pulled up behind a 2010 SS at a light. We drove a while to get out of traffic, we messed around for a bit, he would hit he gas and fly by and I would, but we finally got our **** together for a run.

His car was pretty loud, it sounded like a really nice exhaust, don't know any mods though.

We didn't do the "honks", he just got the hit and I reacted, by the time I reacted to his hit, my bumper was up to the front of his door it looked like.

I thought he was going to pull on my like I was standing still at first, but surprisingly he was only inching very slowly ahead as we reached 115ish from a 40 roll, then we let off.

My car is stock so I thought he would probably get me by a car or more, but we ended up with me just slightly behind his door. I had fun.

Get small mods and you won't have to worry about those stock SS's

Stock 5th gens are almost as disappointing as stock 4th gens. They're pretty close in a race.

Really? I ran 12.8's with just a tune all else stock, on stock tires. The long tubes woke my car up, probably one of the best bolt-ons for the 5th gen.

Good run op.

My car after the headers.

My 01 WS6 went 12.82 @ 110 mph stock down to the air filter. Many 4th gens have gone high 12s stock, it isn't really anything to get excited about IMO.

For starters you must be on crack to call either disappointing,

They are pretty close though. My friends '10 camaro ss went 12.9@110 stock to the air filter. He also had a 2000 trans am that went 12.9@110 with only free mods.

They are slow... it's not that impressive that they're a little bit faster than a stock f body considering they're over 400hp. Car needs a diet.

They are heavy, they also ride better, are quiet inside, and don't rattle. I love both of them, but I love the 6.2 and 6 speed auto setup.

They are close stock yes. Close modded too, the gen4 is lighter and u can always add cubes. The gen5 is heavier, can be lightened too.

To the OP, congrats man! Get you some LT headers and a tune, and you'll pull away from a stock 2010 SS pretty solidly, as long as you don't go up in smoke that is. I ran one from a red light to about 60-70, and pulled on him pretty good. Needless to say, he was surprised I beat him Did you get a chance to talk with the other driver any after your run?

To those that think the 2010 SS is slow, what do you typically drive? If it's a modded vehicle, or something in the low 12's, of course you think they're slow...
wav3form is correct in saying they need a diet, but they're not slow. They're just not extremely fast, or as fast as they could be with a diet.

necrocannibal, what kind of tires did you have on the car? If you ran that time on the same street tires that you drive daily, then that is impressive. If that was run on drag tires...meh... Also, did the car have any special packages on it from factory? I've heard about a few of those "police interceptor" stock camaros running in the high 12's.

Irregardless, well done OP. It's always nice to show people with new cars that our "old" vehicles can still hang with em.

Why? I've had both, and still have a 5th gen. It's all relative to what you're used to... the stock C6 z06 i drove was disappointing.

The automatic 5th gens especially are TURDS, they barely dyno more then a late 4th gen (some less).

I'll get a vid tonight 55-120.

I agree mike, they were the ****. Sure 12s in a stockish ride isn't special anymore but its not slow. A lot of 5th gen guys don't even know about the fuse pull, that will make a big difference.
