Default stuck at the dealership for free cats

I wasnt sure where to post this at so i just picked the camaro section. if the mod would like to move it go for it sorry for the hasle. I took the camaro to the dealership to get the cats replaced for free. they will not honor it until the lean condition is fixed they refuse to fix them for free if it is just goin to mess them up again. the problem is that now it is the end of the year so if it leaves they will not honor the tsb because it is after the 10 year mark. i was thinking that the lean condition may be caused by the maf. i have an slp lid and a k&n filter and since i currently drive the car everyday i thought maybe the maf. has gotten dirty or has gottent oil from the filter on the wires. would this cause a lean condition? but i dont want to pay the dealership to have a tech clean the maf. when i can do it myself in about 5 min. at home... does anyone have any ideas, or suggestions? its looking like this free cat replacement may cost me an *** raping at the dealership
