Stock LS2 piston and rod ?'s.
I have several ?'s about the stock flat top pistons from LS2/LQ9.
First off, can you buy replacement pin retaining clips? I just bought a used set of rods and pistons and some of the retaining clips are missing.
Also, There is a dot on top of each piston off to one side. Are the dots supposed to go toward the front of the engine?
I've always assembled engines with the "tang" part of the rod towards the outer part of the block, but all of the ones I have are pointing the same direction the way they're put together now, ex- 4 pistons would have dots going towards front of motor, 4 would be pointing towards rear.
which is the right way?
TIA

I just picked up my rods and pistons from the machine shop and they installed all of my stock rods into my forged pistons w/ valve reliefs in the same orientation. Which means if I were to install them as is, the direction of the flats would alternate front to back. I know what the rebuild books says but functionally I just don't see the difference.
Does anyone know why they say to have them all face the same direction?
